The Shehechiyanu blessing is traditionally recited upon performing some action for the first time.  The blessing gives thanks for our lives and for being at the present moment.

What are five things from the  past  year for which you feel grateful to be arriving at this moment—things you’ve seen, had, done, said, loved, witnessed, tried, understood better, accepted, lost, found, or experienced?

בָּרוּך אַתָּה יי אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶך הָעוֹלָם שֶׁהֶחֱיָנוּ וקְִיְמָּנוּ והְִגִיּעָנוּ לַזְמַן הַזֶה

Barukh ata adonai elohenu melekh ha’olam, shehecheyanu, v’kiyimanu, v’higiyanu la’z’man ha’zeh

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the Universe who has given us life, sustained us, and allowed us to reach this day.
