Recustom is here to help you create or enhance your own unique customs and rituals for the High Holidays. We know adapting to online tools can sometimes be difficult -- we want to make it easy to use this website. Below are some useful tips to help you get started and build your very own booklet.

1) CREATE AN ACCOUNT

You can explore clips on the website without creating an account, but to save, download or create your own booklet, you will need to create an account. Click here to create your account.

2) START A BOOKLET OR RITUAL

From the HighHolidays@Home home page, select "Start With A Template" on the left side. A pop-up will appear that will give you the options for creating your customizable High Holiday booklet. You can also use any featured booklet as your template. Simply open that booklet and look for the red button next to the booklet's title that says, "Use As My Booklet Template." 

Once you start your booklet, you can save it and continue editing. Just look for the smiley face icon on the upper right corner. Hover over the icon and a drop-down menu will appear. Select "My Dashboard" and you'll find everything you have created.

3) ADD CLIPS TO YOUR BOOKLET

You can customize your High Holiday booklet by accessing our library of clips contributed by leading Jewish organizations and community members like you. When you find something that you like, select the “Add to Booklet” button to save the clip. You'll see a pop-up, prompting you to select from a list of booklets you have created, as well as a section to store this clip.

If you are on your Booklet's page, click “+ Add Clip” and you will be taken to the Clip Library. In the Clip Library, choose “Select” from the overlay. When you have selected all the clips you want, click on “Add to Booklet.” You can go back and add additional clips or delete clips later. If you want to preview a clip before you add it, click “View” in the overlay. 

Tip: If you're in the Clip Library and you see a clip you like, you can select  “+ Add to Booklet” in the bottom left corner under that clip and you'll be invited to add it to any booklet in your library.

4) CREATE YOUR OWN UNIQUE CLIPS

We invite you to contribute your own original work to our Clip Library! To create a clip, make sure you are first logged into your HighHolidays@Home account. In the top right drop-down menu, select “+ New Clip. You will be taken to a page where you can create your own clip. If your clip is not your original work, please be sure to provide an original source for your clip and abide by our Sharing Policy.

5) ORGANIZE YOUR BOOKLET

To view all the clips you currently have in your Booklet, hover over the smiley face icon in the top right corner of the page and select the booklet you wish to edit from the drop-down. From the edit mode, you will see all the clips you've added to the booklet.  You can edit individual clips, reorder them within a section or into a different section, or remove a clip from your booklet.

To preview your booklet, click on the button that says “Preview Booklet” on the left side of your screen.

6) PRINT YOUR BOOKLET

Once you are done creating your booklet, you can download or print. From your booklet's page, click “Download" on the top right to save your finished booklet as a printable Word Document or PDF.

When you download, you will be invited to make a donation. These donations keep Recustom accessible and enable us keep improving and expanding our Recustom platforms and offerings. Plus, your donation is tax-deductible. Click here to donate.
